So get this… I haven’t been on a date in over five months and my dating life sucks balls (mind you, even when I was actively dating… my dating life still sucked balls) but for some reason, people actually want to speak to me about DATING and even consider me to be some sort of authority on the subject. Crazy huh?
Well, even though I don’t seem to be too great at doing the whole dating thing, if there is one thing I can do, it’s talk about it. A lot.
Click Tonight... all about the partaaays
So, when I was approached by Click Tonight, the UK’s leading Party Dating website, and asked to talk about my life and experiences being a single girl in London – I figured, who was I to say no? Click Tonight is a cross between social networking and dating and definitely a site I’ll be looking at more in the future but, for now, if you’re remotely interested in hearing a bit of gossip, reading about the best (and worst) date I’ve ever been on and also my advice to the newly single and fabulous… head on over to the Click Tonight blog by clicking HERE and have a read.
The beginning of 2011 was blog-tastic!
As far as blogging goes, 2011 has been a funny old year for me. It got off to a very strong start, with me making a list of dating-related new year resolutions and then getting stuck straight in by going to a singles party, signing up for a dating boot camp weekend and then inviting my international blogging buddies to help me celebrate the site’s one year anniversary with a week long series of guest posts.
However, a violently strong love-hate relationship with online dating was spurred on by the idiots on Plenty of Fish and having to spend money on sites that couldn’t guarantee even one date. That, along with the fact I had dates with a weird stalker type, a guy who nearly proposed on the first date (well not really, but kinda) and a guy who seemed lovely and keen before flaking out on me after two really good dates, made me feel that my dating life had pretty much gone to pot.
Tomorrow, The Single Filez is one year old. I actually started blogging as The Single Filez back in July 2009 but after a few not-very-good posts, everything fell to the wayside. As far as I’m concerned, The Single Filez didn’t truly kick off until the 5th April 2010 when I first signed up to Twitter and announced to the blogosphere “I’m Back!“. I remember not knowing if anyone was reading my words. Now, I look at those posts and I see zilch comments, so I’m gonna go right ahead and guess that actually no-one was reading.
Fast forward to a year later and there has been 97 blog posts, close to 27,000 blog views, over 950 Twitter followers and a numerous number of dates with a numerous number of men. Although, I don’t really care about the statistics. Statistics, schmatistcs. What I do care about are the things that I’ve done, the things that I’ve learnt and the people that I’ve met over the past 12 months.
Although we’ve come to the end of 2010, I don’t see nothing wrong with a bit of reminiscing (I’m sure there’s a song or two in there?). In celebration of a brand new year, here is a recap of The Single Filez in 2010. Listed below are the most-read posts, in order of amount of views. Not my own personal favourites you understand – I came close to doing that, but didn’t want to be selfish – but the ten posts WordPress stats prove have resonated most with readers most since kick off in April 2010. Feel free to enjoy a walk down memory lane…
