Click Tonight: The Interview…

23 Jan

So get this… I haven’t been on a date in over five months and my dating life sucks balls (mind you, even when I was actively dating… my dating life still sucked balls) but for some reason, people actually want to speak to me about DATING and even consider me to be some sort of authority on the subject. Crazy huh?

Well, even though I don’t seem to be too great at doing the whole dating thing, if there is one thing I can do, it’s talk about it. A lot.

Click Tonight... all about the partaaays

So, when I was approached by Click Tonight, the UK’s leading Party Dating website, and asked to talk about my life and experiences being a single girl in London – I figured, who was I to say no? Click Tonight is a cross between social networking and dating and definitely a site I’ll be looking at more in the future but, for now, if you’re remotely interested in hearing a bit of gossip, reading about the best (and worst) date I’ve ever been on and also my advice to the newly single and fabulous… head on over to the Click Tonight blog by clicking HERE and have a read.

Enjoy!

Mr Unavailable: The Gospel According To Natalie Lue

4 Jan

I first came close to writing about Natalie Lue – of Baggage Reclaim fame – back in October 2010 when I attended her ‘Mr Unavailable’ workshop in central London.  But now, a little over a year later, I’m very proud to say that Natalie’s teachings about the dangers of the dreaded Mr Unavailable are now available in print for all to buy.

About Natalie. I’ve known her via Twitter for a little while now and I have also met her twice in real life. I can honestly say that not only is this woman an absolute sweetheart, but she is also extremely wise. I don’t know how’s she done it, but Natalie has taken her personal experiences and observations and parlayed them into a full time job AND a book deal to boot!

If you haven’t checked out the Baggage Reclaim website, you don’t follow Natalie on Twitter or haven’t even seen her pearls of wisdom about “assclowns” (her word, not mine) when she comments on my blog posts please do have a read of a few of my favourite excerpts from her first published (there have been ebooks previously) book – Mr Unavailable & The Fallback Girl.

“While I’ve educated many thousands of people on the perils of unavailable relationships and what healthy, committed relationships look like, this is also a journey in recognising that if you can’t date with your self-esteem in tow, you need to stop dating until you can. Mr Unavailable and the Fallback Girl will help you to stop being a passenger in shady, depleting relationships and stop treating these broken men like they’re messiahs while you’re someone who has to clamour around them for crumbs of attention, affection, and hints of commitment. These crumbs don’t become loaves and will leave you hungry for a real relationship. I want you to read this book and recognise that you need the loaf, a whole load and nothing but the loaf.

Pursuing or having relationships with Mr Unavailable is symbolic of your need to learn to love yourself more and to set some boundaries and have better standards.”

Taking A Break From Dating: One Girls’ Story

17 Aug

I haven’t had a guest blogger since my one year blogaversary week of international guest posts back in April. It’s been a long time coming but the timing on this one couldn’t be any more perfect. To combat all of the anti-dating talk I’ve been doing lately, here’s the lovely Liz from We Love Dates sharing her story…

The very lovely Liz from We Love Dates.

We at We Love Dates love Ms. Single Filez and her blog.  When I found out she wasn’t so much loving the dates right now, I completely sympathized.  I am the editor for a dating website for the love of god, I am supposed to LOVE DATES. However, it wasn’t always like that.

Last year around this time, I took a break from dating.  I removed all my online dating profiles, and deleted a bunch of numbers from my phone.  I was burned out, and completely over it. After meeting man after man,  I was losing faith in the male species. Dating wasn’t making me feel good, and life is hard enough.

Are We The Ones To Blame?

28 Jul

Anyone who has read the blog for awhile will know how much I love Twitter. I’ve written many blog posts inspired by Twitter, just for starters – I Heart New York20 Awesome Things About Me and most recently The Modern Matchmaker July Challenge (a challenge which I failed at, btw). This post is also inspired by Twitter but slightly different to the others, this one is inspired by a BAD Twitter experience.

Following the aftermath of things crashing & burning with East End Boy, I used Twitter have a bit of a rant (as you do) and this resulted in a woman who I’d never spoken to before deciding she was going to enlighten me and tell me everything that was wrong with my behaviour towards men.

According to this woman, I need to give myself a reality check and take a good hard look at myself. According to this woman, men’s behaviour is caused by women. Apparently, I am the one to blame because I chose him in the first place. I chose him because I am in repeat mode and I am not learning. The same thing happens to me over and over again for a reason. I need to look at myself and not at others.
