A huge big thank you goes out to all of the awesome bloggers who wrote for me to help me celebrate my one year blogoversary – Helene, Dazediva, Single Girlie, Single City Guy, Simone and The Hopeful Romantic – I really do appreciate it! I hope that I managed to successfully showcase a small taste of a few of the blogs I’ve discovered in the past year? There are lots of other bloggers whose work I adore, all of whom I’ve connected with since I started this journey but for now, The Single Filez is back to being just me myself & I.
The guest posts from Single City Guy and Simone from Skinny Dip got me thinking about my own anonimity. To be completely honest, the idea of whether or not I should come out and reveal my identity has actually been something I’ve played with many times over the past year.
Yesterday’s post by New York’s Single City Guy was from a city close to my heart and, interestingly, it was the first EVER guest post by a man on The Single Filez! Today’s guest post also takes me to another city that is very close to my heart. Toronto aka T.O. aka The T-Dot is somewhere I call my second home. Half of my family live there and I’ve been going there since I was 11 years old, so in a way, I consider myself an honourary Torontonian. Today’s international guest blogger is extra- special because I’ve met her, like really, in the flesh! The last time I was in the T. Dot we met up, we ate pizza and we drank many (many) tasty Martinis. We had an absolute blast and now I’m happy to say I’ve got a new friend to add to my little black book of who to call when my plane touches down at Toronto’s Lester B Pearson airport. Today’s international guest blogger is…. Simone of Skinny Dip!
Coming out & Owning it
When The Single Filez approached me to write this guest post, she asked me to speak about what its like to be “out” as a blogger in the dating/relationship/sex blogging community. So, I’m here today to talk a little bit about anonymity online, or lack thereof.
After chillin’ over on the west coast in LA with a post by Single Girl Blogging, today I head over to the east coast of the US and make it (literally by the skin of my teeth) to my favourite city in the whole wide world – New York City. Now, y’all should already know about my obsession with NYC. There was no way I would do an international guest blogger tour and not stop off in the Big Apple.
Todays blogger has the honour of being the only male in this week’s line up. I’d go as far as saying that he’s a pretty lucky guy to be in the company of such wonderful women. Anyway, with no further ado, I introduce to you… Single City Guy!
Thoughts of an NYC Dating Blogger
There’s plenty of complexity, to being an anonymous, male, dating blogger. Each segment of the title sparks conversation, conflict, and decisions; all creating a unique and interesting classification. A dating blogger may inspire images of Carrie from Sex in the City, when the reality is the opposite. In reality, being a dating blogger doesn’t provide wealth; you won’t become rich unless you sell a book (or movie rights). While monetary wealth in running a dating blog isn’t often seen, but there’s potential wealth the content, my prospective. For me, it’s the male prospective. Date blogging isn’t a journal of my personal experiences, it’s about providing a deep thought into the prospective of dating, especially from the male point of view. I’ve found, there’s more wealth in my insight, not exclusively for the reader, but for myself.
After yesterday’s post from the lovely DazeDiva in Mumbai India, today I’m heading over to LA on the west coast of the US. Today’s post is from someone whose blog never fails to make me chuckle (more like embarrassingly loud guffaws). She always tells it how it is, she blogs about shockingly honest things (farting on dates, anyone?) and I kinda heart her for that. This lady is proof that it’s possible to feel some kind of connection to someone without knowing their name or even what they look like. Single Girl Blogging – take it away!
A Blogger Is Born
Happy blog birthday, Single Filez! Dating blogger singlegirlie inna house, representing Los Angeles out here in the U.S. of A. I like Filez, because in some ways, she reminds me of me, except classier.
When it comes to men, she’s as picky as I am. It’s not necessarily a good thing, but I think we’re both hoping for some semblance of magic. Not like singing penises kind of magic, but that magic feeling you get when you’re with someone who you know is the right guy for you.
Like Filez, I started my blog about a year ago. The idea first came to me from my ever-fabulous gay bf. He would listen to my crackpot dating stories and told me if I wrote a blog, it would be wildly popular.
Hmm, I thought. I’d been wanting to find an outlet for my writing. I write at work, but it’s nothing you’d call creative. Yes, a dating blog! Write what you know, right?
